I liked JAL, do they fly to Sydney? We had the best food and a cool camera on the nose of the plane so I could watch up flying over the world.
I'm not sure - I would probably opt for the cheapest one!!
Hey that does sound cool - I don't like heights though so may spend the whole of the flight in the loo!!
Think I may go by sea - check this out!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/7524733.stm
Singapore Airlines via Singapore, for me. The airline is brilliant - they were the first to get the Airbus A380 and fly it to Australia. Even on a bog-standard Boeing, economy class has seat-back screens with movies and TV on demand and a range of Nintendo games... though I really covet their SkyBed, which costs about a million pounds but is without doubt the best commercial 'seat' money can buy... more like a personal cabin.

Anyway, all flights stop over in Singapore, and the airline offers stopover packages where the airfare includes a night at a hotel there - the city is clean, tropical, high-tech yet exotic, well worth a look.

Best of all, though, and the main reason I recommend this route, is Changi Airport. Many's the time I have landed there at God-knows-what hour of the day or night, with a two-hour layover to fill. Luckily this 24-hour airport is heaven for travellers.

I have caught a few winks under the stars in the softly-lit rooftop catcus gardens and wandered the tranquil indoor orchid gardens, with little bridges meandering across ponds full of Koi. There's even a few masseurs on hand to get your circulation going, and of course some exotic food to try.

Best of all is the outdoor rooftop pool on top of terminal 2 (fluffy towels and showers provided). After a long, icky, cramped flight, a spell in this pool will restore and reinvigorate you for the next leg, as well as restart your circulation. So remember to pack your cossie in hand luggage. All airports should be like this!

A final point: Singapore is the closest thing to the halfway point, so it splits the journey fairly easily. Arriving here is always a pleasure and sorts you out for the next leg.
think that sounds the best option - cheers ed
I love Air New Zealand to fly anywhere: great service, food & films… though they aren't cheap - you might be able to find good deals if you book early enough though. :)
We flew with Eva Air (Taiwanese Airline). They were excellent and really similar to Singapore Airlines but so much cheaper. If you want to splash out and have a bed all the way to Australia .... it's one of the cheapest airlines for business class and only around GBP 2,000. Bliss!
Hi Mike, I have just been looking over some past discussions, and I found this one about airline preferences.... funnily enough I posted a blog on my website this week about which one I consider the best.... so I am going to put it on your blog too 'cause I think it's helpful!

Basically I totally agree with Anna!

Cheers
