Hi all, I would like to thank all of you who have contributed here and especially to Susan and Gill. I go 475.  Adelaide is a good place to live.  Hopefully, we will be able to get jobs to qualify ourselves.  All the best to those who are still waiting.  God bless. Violet

What is your job code my dear friend?

i applied under librarian.

Thanks, Malay for your well wishes.  I will spending christmas in oz next year.

Hi Violet

You little superstar!!!  I can't tell you how thrilled I am by your news.  WELL DONE, that girl!!!

I'm sorry it has taken me a while to reply. I've been frantically busy and haven't had time to look at this site in the last couple of weeks.

Only one of you has to work in Regional Oz and s/he can do whatever job s/he likes.  Therefore you are bound to find work.  The only issue is to make sure that the work will pay enough to keep your family going financially.  You can both work if you want to.

The main thrust of the 475 visa is to encourage new migrants to settle in places in Regional Australia. You must spend 24 months living in Regional Oz in the first 36 months after the grant of your visa.   The idea is that after you have spent 2 years in Regional Oz, you will have settled down there and will probably choose to remain in Regional Oz for the rest of your lives.

The Australian Government expect that you will become Permanent Residents in due course and I am sure that you will, honey.

Whereabouts do you plan to move to?

BIG HUGS!

Gill

Hi Gill,

Thanks. :-)

We like Adelaide.  Most likely we have decided to stay put there for a while.  We never know what will happen in the future.  However, Adelaide is a nice place to raise family.  I have a baby recently.  She is about 4 months old now.  So, most likely I will choose to become the stay-home mom and try to work from home job.

We are planning to move in Feb 2012.  Pray that everything will go smooth for us.

Cheers,

Violet

My God !!! Great news. congrats & all the best.

Hi all (specially Sushan/Gill),

Sorry for the re post, but I really need some help. I have some queries regarding the visa subclass 475.

1. Is there a transition period between the visa approval and entry to Australia ? if yes, how long it can be ?

2. The last company from where I got the max experiences for my skill has been shut down. Now, how can I deal this situation while visa processing ?

3. If I switch my current job in the middle of the processing what would be the best approach to deal the situation ?

4. As far I know, I have to submit the document for proof of Functional English for my Secondary Applicant when CO asks for it and not at the time of submitting the application, so there is some time in between, right ? Now, what if the secondary applicant fails to submit the proof in time ? Will there be a way if I want to remove the secondary applicant later ?

Please give me some suggestions/tips that I might be careful of as I am planning to apply for a 475 as an Analyst Programmer with State Sponsorship from SA.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Arifur

I might be able to help with some of your questions but probably not all of them.  Here goes!

1.  You are required to make your Initial Entry to Australia within 12 months of the *earlier* of your visa meds or your penal clearances.   Everyone included in the visa MUST make this Initial Entry, even if they only stay in Oz for a marrer of mere hours before leaving again.  The secondary visa holders (eg your wife & children) cannot make an Initial Entry unless either the primary visa holder has already done so or all of you are travelling together as a family group.

With a 475 visa, you have to be a bit careful about making an Initial Entry and then leaving again because the visa is only valid for 3 years from the date of its **grant** - not 3 years from the date of Initial Entry, which will necessarily take place after the visa grant.  Since the visa says that the visa holders must live in Regional Australia for not less than 24 months during the first 36 months following the grant, you really need to fulfil the residence requirement without too much delay.

2.  No comment.  I am not confident about what happens when an ex-employer has closed down so I would prefer not to try to guess about this one.

3.  I believe that you do not have to submit an IELTS test for your wife until shortly before the visa is granted - ie your CO asks for it.  If she cannot get Functional English in time then you will be asked to pay a 2nd Instalment for her instead.  In theory, the 2nd Instalment pays for her to attend English classes in Australia but I don't know whether anybody bothers to go to these classes!

4.  I hesitate to answer questions about computing occupations because I know nothing about computers beyond having a vague idea about how to work the one on my desk. Obviously, you cannot be sponsored by SA unless your occupation is on the State Migration Plan for SA.  Is it, please?  Also, are there any special English requirements for this occupation on the SMP for SA?  Apart from that, read all the words on the Immigration SA website very carefully and make sure that you can comply with all of SA's other criteria as well.

If you get stuck and you want to use a migration agent to give you a hand, I always recommend Peter Chiam of ptlabs when the person is a computer wizard because Peter knows everything about visas for computing professionals, so you would be safe if you used him:

Hi Gill,

Thanks a lot for your valuable comments.

I would like to inform you that I have already got my skill assessed from ACS and recently got a State Sponsorship from SA and with that I am planning to for the 475 :)

The only things that currently making me worried are the queries I made about.

I will be back and will ask for your suggestion again if I get stuck at any point.

Thanks again for your comments and suggestion.

Hi Arifur,

Just to share with you regarding my IELTS experience.  I have submitted my husband and children above 18 years old upon submitting the application.  The best is to wait for the CO to request.  However, we are hoping to get the application to move on faster when DIAC grants us a CO, we decided to do it before he/she requests.  IELTS valid for two years.  For dependent who is above 18 years old is  MUST to submit their IELTS. To be frank, we are taking a chance as well.  With God blessing, our skill is listed in the SMP of SA. I was a bit wonder why until today the skill librarian is still on the list, after visited the place, I understand why. There are many libraries in Adelaide. :-)

As for your skill, is there a possibility for you to locate your previous manager to write a letter?  If the person is holding a new job now, your manager may be can use the existing company letter head to prove his identity and also the validity of your experience in both of your ex-company.  That's only my suggestion.  Not sure is it workable or not.  Anyway, this was discussed in other forum before, but I think it's not advisable to promote another forum here.

However, if your case is not straight forward, may be is a good idea to get a reliable agent to help.  Just like mine.  I got an agent to help me to identify the state and skill to forward my application.

All the best.  If there is a will, there is a way.

Violet
