I saw in a forum, in reply to one of our friends phone call to DIAC, the DIAC agent told him that 75% of the CSL applicants have already been dealt with and unfortunately he is in the other 25%. Any idea how many could fall in this 25%? Cause I see thousands of CSL applicants in forums across the web, still waiting for grant.

Ladies and Gentleman,
Few things which are banging my head day and night...I hope some senior members could answer these queries...
1.DIAC has announced GSM changes on 8 Feb 2010. And it has been almost more than one month since then. But not a single change has been implemented practically on the ground. For example Minister has announced Capping and Ceasing. But where is the implementation on the ground.

2.MODL has been revoked without any further information what will happen next. Now they have to revoke MODL they must immediately replace it with some other list so that applicants are not left under dilemma of applying or not.

3. DIAC is trying to minimize the inflow of applications, but reality is that after hearing this news about replacing new SOL list with less number of trades on it, more and more applications are uploaded. And I have observed that since last 2 to 3 months DIAC has processed very less number of applications.
So, my question is what is DIAC doing to manage the immigration policy.Perhaps they have only one policy take the applications sit the money, eat lots of interest and then implement CAP and KILL policy on those application....So Beware new applications CAP and KILL could be implemented on your applications too....Please tell me how would I support such a CAPPING and KILLING policy.
VOW what a policy....

It is true that the MODL is now defunct. The CSL has been updated accordingly and the new SOL list will be viewable next month. This will gradually replace the CSL.
The DIAC have released figures that show a decrease in the number of general skilled applications, which is what their aim is I am guessing. The pass criteria for the IELTS has been raised which means that your level of English must now be much higher. So what they are actually doing is deterring those who do not have the required skills or levels or English, from applying.
All those who applied before September 2007 and whose applications are now cancelled will be getting full refunds - although without the interest the money would no doubt have incurred. I think that refunds should be standard, but then I don't make these decisions unfortunately!

Their overall aim is to recruit more highly-skilled migrants into Australia. By being more selective and raising the stakes they are doing that. Numbers of applications for Australia are decreasing.

The Australian general elections are due soon, although it is doubtful that this will signal any favourable change in immigration policy. Apart from protesting on forums like this, signing petitions and writing letters there is little you can do. I wish I could say otherwise!

I am also a CSL applicant, almost nine months passed. Last week only I was asked to submit Medicals and police reports. No idea how much of time it would take.
