Hi,

It was in the news that recently Perth has been included in regional classification for RSMS:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/whats_new_457.htm

The interesting point is that in DIAC website Perth has not been included in the list of regional areas yet.

here:

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/regional-g...

As far as I know, you can usually apply for 475 if you receive a sponsorship by region authorities or a relative of yours in that region.

But in the pdf file which is included in the news it is emphasized on receiving a sponsorship from an employer.

Is it possible to apply for subclass 475 for Perth without an employer sponsorship?

It is confusing, isn't it?

Hi Al

We recently spoke to the Minister's office about this issue and were advised that the changes you refer to above will become effective in October/November.  They haven't been formalised yet.

The following visa subclasses will be affected:

  1. Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclass 119 / 857)
  2. Skilled Regional sponsored provisional (subclass 475)
  3. Skilled Regional sponsored provisional (subclass 487)
  4. Skilled Regional permanent (subclass 887).

Here is a link to DIAC's information about the subclass 475 visa; as you can see, you can either be sponsored by a state or by an eligible family member.

Best regards

Susan
