I think the parties are using Australian Immigration Sector for there political gains, as it has become a hot topic that is gaining a lot of attention of everybody these days and people are more and more diverted towards what will happen or what is going on in Immigration. Whatever the policies be chosen by either of the parties, but, One thing is sure, Australia is suffering and will suffer a lot. It has not only effected the Australian economy, but, also is criticized by many of big companies and Australian International Education Sector and not to mention the Migrants who are suffering a lot who were not told about the changes that could be made at the time they lodged there applications and are now left nowhere by Australian Immigration Policy Makers.

It seems that Immigration is being used more as a tool than seriously. I think everybody should simply leave the Australian Immigration to the Authorities who know better (such as companys who know what and who they need as migrants, the International Education Sector and of course the Migration Institute of Australia). These are the Authorities who will better manage the Australian Immigration Department than the Abbots or Julia or Evan or Labours etc etc anybody who is very much interested in playing with the lives of people.

The continuously changing policies have badly effected the majority of migrants and not to mention the economy of Australia than uplifting the economy as promised by Policy makers.

At last I would like to mention that whatever has happened in Australian Immigration Sector and the policies and changes that were introduced in Immigration by the government, has not only effected the current migration program but it will leave the effect for a long time till the people would be made aware and promised of no future policy changes after they lodge there application.

people were assumed that australia is only country where govt is ruled for benefits of every single citizen and welcomes migrants to the heart but now face-pack is removed and we can seen they are nothing different to other than a cheap politicians like other countries.they are so hunger of power for that they can trumped life of innocent and poor migrants and washed their future prospects forever. and they have no account for this evil.money is centroid of whole migration mess created by policy makers.strong economy in last recession had proved how they managed migrant's's capital loan with no interest to serve and running own staff.for that they should truly be praised .but what they are returning to applicants after four dreadful years is the most cheap, witty and unforgivable .there is still a road to turn back for this whole sh---- t and a chance to diagnose and correcting it with a genuine way
Great! Julia is elected. Only this was left to hear!! great!
Dear Susan,

Please tell me the TRUTH
Where MIA Body as well as All MARA Agents are still exists/working actively ……………..
or I have to start searching for an Immigration Lawyer for my Pending ( SRS SUBCLASS 475) Case

Regards,
Malay
Hi Malay

The MIA does not assist people with visa applications and never has. It is a membership organisation for migration agents. It used to run the MARA but the government took that away from it.

Registered migration agents and migration lawyers do assist people with their applications and still work actively.

Whether you retain someone to assist you is a personal choice. Here are links to two blog posts I wrote for our community that might help you decide:

Do you need a migration agent?

Are you getting the best value from your agent?

If you decide to obtain assistance with your application, you can find a list of registered agents and lawyers on the MARA's website:
https://www.mara.gov.au/agent/ARDetails.aspx?

If you would like McGrath Migration Lawyers to assist with your application, our contact details are on our website and here is a link to Chris' MARA listing: https://www.mara.gov.au/agent/ARDetails.aspx?ud=1469&FolderID=394

Best regards
Susan
Hi Ria

I understand your frustration and agree with most of your comments above but just for clarification, I'd like to clarify the role and function of the MIA.

Firstly, the MIA is a membership organisation for migration agents. It is not associated with government in any way and has very little, if any, influence in high-level decisions about Australia's migration policy.

In addition, it does not in any way advocate for visa applicants, which is one of the reasons I did not renew my membership over a year ago.

Best regards
The good bodys are kept apart from high level decisions by Australian Govt. I have read there documentation when September 2009 changes occured. It was great.
Hi Ria

There is no conspiracy to keep any organisation apart from high level decisions by the Australian Government. Many organisations, such as the Australian Medical Association, are consulted by Government before it makes high level decisions.

Just like the Indian Government, the Australian Government only listens to organisations that are significant enough to influence it. The MIA is not strong enough. That is the only reason it has little, if any, input into the Govt decisions. It has nothing to do with whether it is a good or a bad body.

In addition, in February, the MIA put out a media release about the capping and killing policy, sympathising with the applicants, but not questioning the Government's poor excuse that it gave applicants "certainty".

It didn't lobby against that decision at all.
