Can my spouse accompany me ?

Hi all and dear Susan,

Can anyone please guide me that i m recently getting married . If hopefully as per the recent changes i get my visa. I have already submitted my documents and PCC on the request of CO cat 5 non CSl . Will they allow my spouse 2 accompany me and if yes whats the procedure.

My agent says that now i can apply for his case only once i am onshore. Please guide me.

DEAR SHIKHA,

According to my experience, you can add your husband with your application. You have to show the proofs of your marriage, like marriage certificates, marriage snaps, your wedding card etc. Then your case offices send you the demand of medicals and pcc of your husband and IELTS score card (or 2nd installment.). You marriage is done before the visa grant, so i think it is not so difficult to add your spouse. You could also do one thing inform about your marriage to your case officer as earlier as possible.Then your case officer will let you know what you have to do.

Hi Shikha

Your agent is wrong.

You should add your spouse to your application immediately; inform DIAC you are married and send in a copy of your marriage certificate. Your spouse will have to do medicals and character check as well as answer questions about his family, just as you had to.

If you follow your agent's advice, you will have to pay another Visa Application Charge and will run the risk of DIAC querying why you didi not mention your engagement or your spouse previously.
