The is brilliant news is that DIAC have started looking at some Cat 5 applications
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...tion-times.htm
Looks like it is only certain onshore visa classes
Skilled – Independent Overseas Student subclass 880 All applications allocated 15 August 2007 Skilled – Australian-sponsored Overseas Student subclass 881 All applications allocated 15 August 2007 Skilled – Designated Area-sponsored Overseas Student subclass 882 All applications allocated 15 August 2007 Skilled – Onshore Australian-sponsored New Zealand Citizen subclass 862 All applications allocated 15 August 2007
Currently looking at applications in the August 2007(Onshore category).
Anyway I really hope that they start to dish out the visas quickly, I know a lot of you guys are High Risk and that has been part of the problem in the past, getting all the bits and pieces done before they change the priorities!

So what Happens now? will they start processing 885 soon?
When is Dimia closed for Xmas? I am a Category 5 May 2008 application. Does anyone know how many visas b/w Sep 2007 and May 2008?
its exciting news....but im scared to be excited too early!
Hi Tania
Please see this link:

I'd say that it is probably a bit too soon to start holding your breath. Jaspreet Singh Bajwa will get a CO before you do because Jaspreet and Rahul have both applied for sc 496 visas, in July/Aigust 2007. Their applications could not be Capped & Ceased so DIAC have decided to give them priority as soon as they can.
Cheers

Hi VB
Excellent news! I'm keeping everything crossed for you and Rahul Patel. Have you heard anything from him lately?
Cheers

Yes this seems to be an excellent news. But I have to keep my cool as it's too early to predict anything. Yes Rahul is in my contact. I will request him to visit this forum. He is also very excited to hear read this news.
Yesterday I called my agent. He told me that , yes , things have started moving for category 5 applicants. But he said most of the case officers will be on leaves for Chrismas. So According to him, after 15 January we can hear some news from the case officers.

I am there and reading this column. I am awaiting keenly any news about cat 5 offshore. I still think it will be sometime before they start allocating offshore cat 5 as there are quite a lot of offshore cat 4 waiting. From other forums what I am seeing is June starting applicants being given COs. There would be loads of June applicants as the rules were changing in July. I expect it to be at least February before we get COs.
Hi! Jaspreet
have they also commenced sub class 176 , if not any idea when these applications will be alocated to case officers
Permalink Reply by Jaspreet Singh Bajwa on December 14, 2011 at 8:17 176 was launched on September 2007. In the latest update, they have only emphacised on processing of Pre september 2007 applicants. Let's hope that they announce some thing on remaining Category 5 applicants soon.
