CO allocated to 885 visa but currently offshore

Hi Susan,

I applied for 885 visa in Jan'09, Now a CO has been allocated and have requsted AFP, Medical and ACS assessment (probably due to the reason as the ones I submitted are not valid for more than 2 yrs.).

I came back to India in Jan'10 due to some circumstances and working in India since then. As my BVB has expired, I might have to apply for tourist visa and be there at the time of grant.

1. Can I apply for these documents while offshore.. i.e through online?

2. What is the 'time of grant', does it start when CO is allocated? (In this case, do I have to leave immediately), or does it start when decision has been made?

3. Do I get any pre-grant letter once CO has made a decision based on the documents I supply, so that I can travel to oz based on that letter and get the grant.

Your advice will be much appreciated.

Do u mind sharing under which profession did u apply for 885?? Did case officer contacted you on your email or you have agent acting on ur behalf?? were they aware that you are offshore currently?? how did they reacted on your situation??

Just coz m currently offshore too, as i had to return because of some urgent family issues.

Yeah CO is aware now as I wrote to her that I am overseas, she said she'll notify my agent once the case is ready for finalization and I have to be there at the time of grant usually within 28 days.. Now I am looking to apply for tourist visa. Lets c, If tourist visa is approved, I'll plan to leave as soon as all the documents are submitted or when the CO notifies my agent.

Didn' they ask you any reason for leaving australia, what you have been doing since then, in india??

Not yet asked about that. Do you have any info on tourist visa or pre-grant letter on this case.??

sorry , no idea on pre-grant letter. But as long as you get it from DIAC, tourist visa should not be a problem.. Good luck !! Keep up posted on your progress...

Hi, Mukund. Needing your help..if you can. I also have case officer assigned and requested for documents like AFP, Character statutory declaration, Medicals etc. Can you please advise wether u have applied for tourist visa to return back??? have u been granted?? how did u do the AFP and other formalities while being overseas??

I am still waiting for CO to reply back on the documents I have sent.. as CO requested for my wife's medical and PCC. Medical can be done from anywhere, it gets courier'd to Sydney for processing. Character certificate is to be done from both Australia (AFP) and home country. You can send scanned documents to any friend in Australia and he can get a money order from Post office and mail it to AFP. This is quicker and cheaper.

No.. she is a non-migrating spouse. Will apply for her visa later. I got pre-grant notification. Now preparing to apply for tourist visa which is the crucial part of the whole  process. What abt ur status??

oh nice!! Congrats!! when did you get the pregrant letter?? my agent has submitted all my documents to my caseofficer just today..how long after the caseofficer received the documnents and you get the pregrant letter??
