I'm looking to make a move in about 6 months to Australia and want to know where to start, I've recently completed my NVQ level 6 in lifting operations (crane management and organisation) and I also hold NVQ level 2 in plant operations (horizontal jib tower crane operator) and NVQ level 2 in slinging and vehicle movements (slinger/signaller for cranes, dogmen I think they are known as in Australia) plus hold my articulated lorry licence for road haulage and appropriate experience with all disciplines, where do I go from here? I'm unsure about visas, seeking employment etc, if anyone can help this would be greatly appreciated, many thanks!

Hi Karl

A good start is to use the Department of Immigration's (DIAC) "visa wisard" to get an idea of the type of visa you might be able to apply for. Then you can read up about that/those visas on DIAC's website.

Under Australia's skilled migration program, you do have to have an occupation on a relevant list to apply for skilled, state sponsored or employer sponsored immigration. DIAC has links to those lists included in its "eligibility" information for each visa type.

I've responded to your other post separately.

Best wishes

Susan
