Hi everyone

When DIAC axed the MODL it didn't update the CSL, which left a lot of computing professionals concerned about their status, as they had to be on the MODL to qualify for the CSL.

The updated CSL hs now been released, and as predicted computing professionals with specialisations are now directly included on it.

Here's a link fyi: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/critic...

Best regards

Susan

Thank a lot to Susan for the quick update.
A release for many IT people although door is still shutting
Hey Susan,

Thanks for the update and of course, this is great news (and relief) for me and other IT professionals.

This site and your input has become an invaluable resource. Took my IELTS yesterday. Confident I've got the pass mark with flying colours, but will be 2 weeks before acknowledgement, but that's fine as still waiting to hear from ACS which I'm also thinking will be due in about 2 weeks.

All the best,

Sky
Cool! It will certainly help aspiring IT professionals like me.

Just wondering how are the IT opportunities in Australia compared to Canada? I am from Canada and feel that IT/professional IT services is not even an industry and the opportunities are also limited. Could any one give some info about IT opps in Australia; so that I can hit the ground running, should I be accepted by DIAC.

Congrats Sky for your IELTS and you have my Best of Luck as well for ACS evaluation.

Cheers!
Sandeep
Thank you Sky!

Hi Susan, I'm afraid we may be jumping the gun though. This CSL is from March 2009 not 2010...???

Anyone interested in future skilled occupation list mid this year can gain some insight into the occupations that skills australia are proposing/considering. you can find the draft list on page 87 of the following link.

http://www.skillsaustralia.gov.au/PDFs_RTFs/WWF_strategy.pdf

Note the footnote states the new skilled occupation list will be based on the occupations listed on page 87. unclear what "based on" means however I'd suggest a lack of IT roles on this list may still be a concern for some.

Mark
Hi Mark

DIAC hasn't updated the footer yet.

I've already contacted their webmaster to advise.

If you look at the CSL that was effective until 8 February, you will see this one is very different.

Susan
OK, great! thanks Susan... Your eyes are much sharper than mine ;)

Interesting to understand the conflicts with the proposed SOL though.

Was their an annoucement on the DIAC website about the new list as I wasn't able to find anything.

many thanks again

Mark
Hi Mark

No announcement - it just came up when I Googled it.

Cheers
Susan
Hi Mark,

There is mention of IT - it's 3rd row down, last paragraph - ICT - Information and communication technologies.

Stop frightening me like that :-)

But yes, I'm with Susan that the list is very different to what was there before, it's a lot shorter and IT is rather dominating!

Regards

Sky
