New GSM and IT occupation

Hey there,

Morning to all of you downunder. Now with new GSM coming into play, any idea if IT would remain on the list or would be taken out? I understand that it's hard to say what the minister has in his mind, but with the gut feel, you think it would remain or taken off?

 

Also does an applicant who holds a Canadian/UK/Ireland/US/NZ passport, still have to take IELTS test with the introduction of new rules?

 

I am falling short of 1 year for getting my assessment from ACS and due to which, I will have to wait until next year before I could apply. So trying to prepare everything in advance to have a smooth transition from Canada to Australia :)

Nope. Not NZ but I hold a Canadian passport. Any reason why you asked this question?

Hi Sandeep

NZ passport holders basically only need to get on a plane and come over to Australia. Others have more requirements to fill.

As a Canadian passport holder, you don't have to take IELTS, but under current DIAC policy, if you want the extra 10 points for proficient English you will have to take the test and achieve a score of at least seven in each of the four bands.

Thanks Susan for letting me know. Yeah, for Kiwis and Aussies, the reciprocity exists where in they can travel to each other's countries just by getting onto a jet plane, like the way Canada and US practice. I am also more keen to know if IT(software professional services/programming and analysis) is likely to remain on the new skills list. Also what could be the avegrage processing time for high end skills from here on/moving forward?
