The occupation codes look a little different because they are not taken from ASCO; DIAC is now using ANZCO; the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations.

Dear Susan,
Thank you very much for the links. I applied onshore 885 GSM as an accountant on December 2009. I received 7.5 ,8, 6.5 ,8 in IELTS and about to redo the test on 5th of June. As accounting still on New sol and no condition attached to it do you reckon i have to do it before 1st July? I just want to study really hard so that I can receive nine band score. As to be in SOL I need seven in each band ,but as I can see in new sol there is no indication for English requirement so far.

Hi Kazi

DIAC has advised that any pending GSM visa applications lodged before the new list of occupations comes into effect would not be affected by this change.

So if you redo the test on 5 June and are able to raise your score of 6.5 to a 7, you will be eligible to have your application processed under the existing CSL.

How previous ASCO codes map to new SOL Codes? In past, I got my assessment against 2231-79(.Net technologies). I also got state sponsorship and was sending my application within a day but came to know about unexpected announcement of Visa suspension. My current assessment is gonna expire on 15th May, 2010. I may lose age points in new future as on on 15th July 29 years old:s

After new SOL announcement, do I need to initiate complete assessment by requesting ACS again?

I'm very upset due to these frequent and unfavorable modifications and now it seems me as if I'm wasting my money and time in AUS immigration process.

Hi SKN

The way I'm reading your post above is that you currently have state sponsorship. You also have a positive skills assessment from the ACS but it expired last week; and you have not yet lodged your subclass 176 application.

Would you mind clarifying for me whether that's correct?

Dear Susan,

You are absolutely correct. I got state sponsorship on 30 April, 2010. My ACS positive assessment against 2231-79(.Net technologies) expired on May 15, 2010.

On July 15, 2010, I will lose further points of AGE as I would be 29 year old.

Please guide me what to do now?

Hi Susan,

As I aware (I could be wrong), the Minister is seeking changes to the Migration Act allowing him to to cap and cease applications by specific criteria (eg. occupation).

Do you think The Minister might in the future use this power to cancel applications in certain occupations to reduce the current backlog of skilled applications, even if our occupation was on the SOL at the date of the application?

I also want to know when they implement cap & cease?? they have taken this decision in 8th Feb but still there is no any outcome. Ms.Susan may i know whether you have any idea about it

After upsetting everyone with his announcement about capping and ceasing, the Minister still hasn't announced what the cap figure is; or whether it has been reached.

I really do understand how frustrating this is for you, but unfortunately, no-one can answer your question until that announcement is made.

hi,i lodged my application from one year and iam under cat5 but my occuption is included in the new sol.so have i wait 3 years until 2012 as the diac told before?or can i get the visa soon.have i advantage of the new sol or the new sol will apply only on new applicatns?
