Hi Friends,

Any one can estimate which occupation will come in State migration plan agreed to by the minister.

Please comment on it.

Only Mr. Minister knows it.
He is all -in-all now.
Actually, the Government has asked Skills Australia to provide advice to inform a new Skilled Occupation List (SOL) that will deliver a General Skilled Migration program to meet Australia’s medium to long term future skills needs.
Mr Minister doesn't even know......
Hi friends,

I mean just assume what should be on top

As I am thinking that all the occupation should come on top in State Migration Plan, which was on first CSL in jan-09, and more will be added as per labour market demand.

Is there any hint given, anywhere, by DIAC?
State should give chances to their previous client as they have provided sponsorship earlier.
we r dying to know what will happen with us.

Hi Raj

The content of the state Migration Plans will depend upon the states' and territories' workforce requirements in mid-2010.

Hi there,

I'm not one for forums usually, but with the new DIAC changes brought in on the 8th February, I feel it's important that I try and get as much information correct before applying for my Visa and this seems like a very knowledgeable place to start!

I am "In Process" of getting my skills assessed by the ACS. Now, I was going to apply under Skilled Migrant Worker subclass 175 but with the removal of the MODL, I lack the points (I am now at 110).

I have 2 choices.

1st) is to try and get the English Proficiency which will grant me a further 10 points. I am confident I could obtain that as I am a UK and confident in my command of the English language. However, my instinct is that the DIAC have not made the changes so people improve their language, but rather, to secure sponsorship / work placement before applying, which makes me feel I could put my application at risk taking this route.

2nd) Obtain State sponsorship. Whist I originally endeavoured to be able to find my feet in Australia, and settle in a place of my choosing, a state sponsorship would grant me enough points (if I get it) to apply under subclass 176.

Here's my plea for advice:

Given that the state governments are drawing up migration plans, is there any chance of being granted state sponsorship between now and when the new SOL list that gets agreed in the middle of this year?

Assuming I get my ACS agreement in the next few weeks, I would like to apply for my Visa asap as I am going travelling for 6-12 months in June and hope to have my application in by then, but if I can't get sponsorship till mid-2010 this will not be possible, and my migration plans will be totally scuppered :"( (unless I postpone my travel plans at cost of changing already purchased ticket). This is in effect saying that there will be very few 175/176 Visa applications between now and say July!

I look forward to hearing from someone soon,

Kindest Regards

Sky
Hi Sky

In answer to your query:

Given that the state governments are drawing up migration plans, is there any chance of being granted state sponsorship between now and when the new SOL list that gets agreed in the middle of this year?; Yes, States are still approving sponsorship applications from people that meet their requirements.

Good luck!

Best regards

Hi Susan,

Any idea what will happen to those applicants who states have removed their nominated skill? Which I believe it's very unlikely they will re-include the removes skill into the SMP plan, right? I read from some forums mentioned that some of the states will just include all the state skill list in the SMP, but this practice not applicable to all the states.

My nominated skill is not listed in the state list anymore, am bit worry will i end up like the pre september 2007 applicants? Reject and refund.

Thanks for your valuable input.

Rgds,

Hey Brian,

I had unsubscribed from this thread as it was getting rather busy, but just saw this in your discussions list.

I've applied for a 175 Visa, this question was posed sometime back but Susans replies gave me the information I required. I took the IELTS test and got a score of 9, so got my extra 10 points, which promptly led to my application.

I'm 32 in a few weeks, so no joy on the opportunity for a working holiday Visa, hence the 175. I decided against sponsorship as I have friends in Brisbane and Melbourne, and yet undecided on where to go. Both are vying for my presence.

One question you may know the answer too (are you a migrant agent yourself?), say I tire of Latin America, can I visit Australia on a 3 month visitors Visa, of course informing DIAC as I know you can't be granted an offshore Visa whilst you're in the country. What is the likely situation? Does the DIAC delay the Visa until you inform them you're out of Australia? It's a question I haven't really asked yet,

Thanking you kindly,

Sky
Hi Susan,

Is there any SMP approved by minister? (I am talking about inside story) please share if you know.
Hi Raj

At this stage, there have been no SMPs formally approved by the Minister.

General discussion within the profession has it that Western Australia and the ACT will be amongst the first to have their SMPs approved; but even in those cases, it's unlikely to happen for a few months. But that advice could change at any time, of course; it depends entireley on the latest information put out by DIAC and/or the Minister's Office.

Lisa and I will keep you posted as soon as anything defnite is announced.

Best wishes
Susan
Thank You
