For me it has to be "Australia" by Manic Street Preachers...

According to Wikipedia...

The sentiment of the song is that Australia is just about the furthest one can go to get away from their home in Wales and is a metaphor for Nicky Wire's desire to escape from the emotional turmoil caused by the disappearance of his close friend and co-lyricist, Richey James Edwards.

Land Down Under by Men At Work - that video always used to make me smile.

However anything by AC/DC would have to be my favourite song. You can't really single anything out - to quote "we don't make singles, we make albums"
I also like I Should Be So Lucky by Kylie :-) oh and Tie Me Kangaroo Down by Rolf!
It's got to be Rolf!
What a legend…
Hmmm.....so many songs, so little space to reply!

" I Still Call Australia Home" kinda grips my heart.

When you're touching down in Oz on an international flight, and everyone claps and cheers in the good old Aussie tradition, as soon as someone starts singing "I Still Call Australia Home", everyone joins it and all gets a bit teary...yes, I like that song! :-)

It's even better than "Football, Meat Pies, Kangaroos and Holden Cars", a very Australian golden oldie from the '70s.

And indescribably better than the truly awful "Australians All Let Us Rejoice" which is just so NOT a stirring national anthem.

Would love to chat more over a cuppa and a piece or two of pav, but gotta go and tie me kangaroo down, Sports - see youse all later!

S :-)
Good call on Land Down Under! Any song that manages to get 'chundering' into the lyrics deserves credit.

Beds are Burning by Midnight Oil too - seem to remember that from around the same time...

Oh, and pretty much anything by The Go-Betweens - massively underrated band.

Quick check on Wikipedia and the official best Aussie song is apparently Friday on my Mind by the Easybeats - had never heard it before, but the video is on Youtube - classic bit of sixties poptunery!
umm...

Quite enjoy Kevin Bloody Wilson - Hey Santa Claus
