Dear Susane, gill and fellow viewers,

I've received my 176 visa for SA and have to land in almost 8 months from now.

But since I have some unfinished projects to fulfill before going to Australia permanently , I'm planning to land in Australia and stay there for a short time and come back to my residing country.

I was wondering if I have to land in SA or I can land somewhere else for the first time. My sister lives in Melbourne and I can stay with her in this short stay. I won't need to pay for residence in my 2 weeks stay if I do this! and I can pay a visit to her.

I appreciate your help

Hi Al

There is no problem at all if you make your Initial Entry to Australia at Melbourne Airport and just stay with your sister in Melbourne throughout your short visit, if you wish.

Indeed, DIAC might wonder what might be wrong with your family if you went all the way to Oz but did not go to spend time with your sister whilst you were there!

Cheers

Gill

Hey Gill

Thanks for your reply. Very helpful as usual.

I am so relieved now.

Cheers
