Hi Hestie

I'm sorry to say that it appears that your agent ceased practice recently - page 3 on the following link refers: http://www.mara.com.au/_attach/lapsed-migration-agents.pdf.

If that person is indeed your agent, it leaves you with two important issues to resolve.

The first - and most important - is to continue to progress your visa application.

The second is to find out whether you have any legal rights with regard to compensation from Mr Echardt, if he did not complete the tasks you paid him for.

With regard to the first issue, if you'd like my help, I'd be happy to coach you through the rest of your application process, at no charge.

With regard to the second issue, that of seeking compensation if any is due, I suggest you contact MARA in the first instance and seek its advice about the appropriate steps to take.

If you'd like to discuss the situation further, please contact me via susan@susanwareham.com.

Best regards
Susan

With regard to the second,

I have another friend, who introduced us to agent., and she is also going to put in a complaint to Mara. They will never get to Oz on his skills but agent promised to find them work (457) and took their money. He was a miner. We are just waitng for new IELTS results (friday) and then we will apply for SA sponsorship. I do not trust the agent anymore!!!!!! Thanks for offering to answer questions, any tips on state sponsorship????

Hi Hestie

I only just noticed your message of 20 October, about the timeframe you should allow your agent to respond to last month's questions, in light of your plans to submit a complaint to MARA.

In my opinion, 48 hours would be more than adequate, as most agents would read their emails at least daily and you've already been waiting for weeks for a response.

If your agent hasn't yet responded, feel free to send your remaining questions over to me on susan@susanwareham.com and I'll see if I can help you out with any of them.

Best wishes
Susan

Hi Hestie

When our South African clients refer to SA, they usually mean South Africa, but I always think they mean South Australia. It makes for a funny interpretation sometimes!

You've already come up with some good points to put in your SA State Sponsorship application - your links to SA through your friends, something about it that pulls at your heart strings, the schools, program for new immigrants, quality lifestyle, a safer life for your children, maybe something about SA and SA's shared outdoor lifestyles, focus on sport, employment opportunities ..... they're all good, strong reasons to motivate you to move.

Good luck with your application!

Best regards
Susan

Hi Hestie

Firstly, the South Australian government doesn't require people to show evidence of their English language ability if they hold a passport from, and are a citizen of, one of the following countries:
• United Kingdom
• Canada
• New Zealand
• United States of America
• Republic of Ireland

If the above doesn't apply, your husband will need to score at least 6 on each of the four IELTS components to apply for sponsorship that wil lead to a Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 176).

Alternatively, if he has a written job offer for a full-time job for at least six months in a skilled occupation, he will need only an overall band score of 6 to apply for a Skilled – Regional Sponsored (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 475).

I hope that helps to clarify your situation.

Best wishes
Susan
