Hi Gill   Just watched the first episode & will watch others over next couple of days - a real eye opener & very moving.   She more or less signs off the first programme saying she just doesn't know what the solution is. Will…

Hi Gill   Ha ha - they require Dominatrix according to specialisations. You're far too nice Gill.   Someone has obviously put real thought into that skills list!   How many other weird professions are on there?   Mike

Hi Mike   I've yet to go to Kalgoorlie myself but i plan to go there sometime.  I need to get an Aussie AQF I qualification first, though.  (Similar to NVQ 1 in the UK.)    Most of the "developed"…

Hi Mike   Many thanks for the link.  I'm going to e-mail Amy and get the lowdown. I'll let you know what she says.   This idea was tried on British TV about 15 years ago, whilst my late husband Jim was still alive and he and…

Why do you Embrace Australia?
Fun, sun, healthy, confident, no bullshit people - I love it!

A few of my friends have moved to Australia and all rave about how wonderful it is! Plus I have a flat in Southfields London which is full of Aussies.

The Sullivans was one of my favourite TV shows as a youngster and today I will get my daily fix of Neighbours!

How couldn't you embrace Australia!

Hopefully I'll be travelling out over the next 12 months to embrace it a little more!

First Entry

Well it's December the 5th 2008 and it's cold in Bath UK where Socket Creative the publishers of Embrace Australia are located. I've just up loaded a profile picture of myself which probably shows why I want to Embrace Australia (it's cold and our gas bills have just gone up 30%).

We have been planning to launch this site for some time now. It's actually over three months late as we should have launched on September the 1st, still life doesn't go to plan does… Continue

Thanks for your help Mike.
Is a discussion same thing as a forum when asking for advise on visas?

Hi Mike

On Friday I am attending Down Under Live at Earls Court.

Yes I have maintained good contacts with a suprising number of people I met in my brief six months or so in Melbourne and Sydney. Some very well placed contacts at VicUrban in Melbourne. I also have previous employment contacts with Aussies who returned home after a spell in UK. So I do know people which is a bonus. Suppose what I need to know is if I can work on short term projects as a consultant in Oz and what kind of Visa would enable me to do that?

Hi Mike
I am going to see what options there are for me. Given my experience and competencies I don't think skilled migration is an option. I am 47 so past it for that route. However, discovered that 55 is the sponsored upper age limit. Next Friday is about exploring what I could legally do. What options are open to me. My CV is certainly solid for the right employer. If all else fails a visit to see mates down under would be well worth it for a fabulous vacation. When I was in Melbourne I project managed this: http://onboard.docklands.com

Hi Mike,

I'm glad that you find what I write on twitter to be of value. :)

I checked out the Embrace Australia Twitter account and quite liked it--a good ratio of quality, relevant posts, without excessive posts each day.

I quite like the EA site, too. It's well done.
